Who am I? I am sweet Emma Jean’s mommy. I like being busy. I don’t know what it is like to have idle hands and I don’t want to. All my life I have been designing and creating things. From drawing floor plans with my architect father’s green plastic furniture templates, to building dollhouses (and everything you could think of to put inside them), to tending a garden surrounding the large lilac bush that grew in our front yard, to renovating apartments, to designing other peoples homes as a registered architect… I have always kept my hands and brain busy.

Becoming a mom this year brought more than a few changes to my life. My ever supportive husband and I decided I would leave my position as a senior staff member of a successful retail architecture firm and stay home to raise our baby. For me, this was a dream come true. I had always dreamed of being a mother. What I did not expect was that while I loved caring for our baby, I quickly realized I needed to do something to keep my mind sharp.

In between playing, feeding, burping, changing diapers and reading story books, I started to make little felt shoes for her. I found a generic free pattern online but quickly abandoned it and came up with my own designs. I’m now making four types of shoes and working on more. I love coming up with different color combinations and embellishments. I just can’t help myself. I’ve made my baby into a shoe maven and she’s not even a year old yet. A sad day it will be indeed when my baby girl is no longer young enough to be my little shoe muse. I guess we will just have to produce a new model!

I figure shoes are just the beginning… I want to design bibs, toys, barrettes and hair clips, room decor, toys and whatever else comes to mind.

My aim is to make every baby a sweet baby!
