Projects

My latest project for Jack’s room was super easy and c-h-e-a-p cheap.  I got a $5 lamp from IKEA (yes, $5 for the whole thing) and cut out polka dots of all different sizes from the left over felt from the Modern Baby Boy Collection that was used for last week’s safari wall art. I probably cut 80 circles out with my hand punches. (I could have used my Cuttlebug machine and Nestabilities dies, but this time I went old school.) To finish it up I then glued them onto the shade with plain ol’ tacky glue.

Emma wants one now, too. She already has a lamp with a plain white shade so I’m just going to glue the dots (pinks, greens and chocolate brown – Emma’s colors) to her existing shade.

It looks great along side the recycled the paper lanterns from Jack’s Baptism Party!

all three

A month or so ago we moved into a new house and each kid now has their own room. (hurrah!) I am finishing up Jack’s room (he is one) and it really is coming along great. The last few details are being added. Yesterday’s project was making three little pictures to hang above his dresser. They are  felt (from the sweet emma jean Etsy shop, of course!) and only took me a few hours to do. Since they are framed behind glass I just glued the pieces, adding a few sewing embellishments where needed. The great thing about wool felt is you can use ordinary tacky glue and it won’t bleed through like it does with the synthetic felt you get from Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. And don’t forget there are over 120 colors to choose from! So your possibilities are limitless… Many of the colors I used came from my Modern Baby Boy Collection, a specially priced set of eight colors.
